Jeremy Wurtzman was named the head coach of the Indiana Men’s Tennis program in 2014. Wutzman is the 15th head coach of the Indiana program.
During his premiere season in 2014, Wutzman led the Hoosiers to a 17-1 record, winning their most overall matches and conference matches since 2012-13.
Later in 2015, Wurtzman led the Hoosiers to a fifth place finish in the Big Ten Conference and a Ohio Valley Region Player of the Year.
Before coming to Indiana, Wurtzman spent one season at the University of Michigan, where the Wolverines posted a 16-13 record and a NCAA postseason appearance.
Before coming to Michigan, Wurtzman was a four-year head coach at the University of Denver Women’s Tennis program (2009-13). At Denver, Wurtzman was named the 2013 Western Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. That year, the Pioneers claimed a 18-4 record and a perfect 8-0 mark in conference play. Wurtzman started his coaching career as an assistant coach for Denver (2006-08). During that time, Denver posted a 31-14 record, qualified for its first ever NCAA appearance, and achieved its highest team ranking of No. 37 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings.
Before Denver, Wurtzman spent the 2008-09 season at his alma mater, Ohio State, winning a Big Ten regular season championship, the Big Ten Tournament title, and a NCAA finals appearance against USC.
As a professional athlete, Wurtzman played on the ATP World Tour, earned a top-30 American professional singles ranking, captured nine pro circuit doubles titles and was a three-time pro circuit singles finalist. He is a member of the US Tennis Association’s High Performance National team.
As a collegiate athlete, Wurtzman was Ohio State’s first tennis athlete to win an ITA individual championship and went on to win the 2003 ITA Midwest Regional Crown, all before earning the No. 1 singles ranking the following season in 2004. Wurtzman was named All-American, the 2004 ITA/Farnsworth National Senior Player of the Year (co-honoree) and the Midwest Region IV Senior Player of the Year for compiling 42 singles and 30 doubles victories.
Wurtzman ended his career a three-time All-Big Ten selection with 132-45 singles record and an 86-49 doubles record. He received his bachelor’s degree in Science of Human Ecology from Ohio State in 2008.
