Mission

The mission of the Indiana University Sports Medicine department is to provide the highest quality medical care to Indiana University student-athletes through education, prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses. Our Sports Medicine team, consisting of Certified Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapists, Team Physicians, Orthopedic Specialists, Sports Psychologists and Registered Dieticians is committed to providing quality healthcare and treatment in a safe environment to all athletes representing 24 sports here at Indiana University.

The Staff Athletic Trainers and Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainers play a vital role in the Athletic Training Program and are all BOC Certified, hold State of Indiana Licensure, and hold CPR/AED Professional Rescuer certifications.

In addition, all staff are members of several professional organizations including NATA, GLATA, IATA, and CATS.  As part of an institution of higher learning, the CAATE accredited professional and post-professional Athletic Training programs provide graduate and undergraduate athletic training students with theoretical and professional preparation in allied health care for athletes and physically active persons. These athletic training students assist the staff with daily coverage responsibilities of Indiana University athletic practices and competitions.

The Indiana University Sports Medicine department provides a unique service, which is essential to the quality health care of varsity athletes at IU and our staff will consistently serve as an advocate for the student athlete when the athlete’s health is an issue.
