Head Coach

Taylor Dodson was named head coach of the Indiana Water Polo program in 2019. Dodson previously served as assistant coach for the Hoosiers from 2017-2018. She has served as an assistant coach for the USA Water Polo National Team since 2017. 

Dodson has had tremendous success with the USA Water Polo Senior Women’s National “B” Team and Women’s Youth National Team. She helped lead the senior team to a first-place finish at the FISU World University Games in 2017 and the youth team to a seventh-place finish at the FINA Youth World Championships in 2018.

From 2015-17, Dodson served a graduate assistant coach and director of operations at Wagner College. In Dodson’s first year as Wagner’s graduate assistant coach, the Seahawks won their third consecutive MAAC Championship, entering the field for the 2016 NCAA Championship. In her second year, Dodson helped Wagner become the first program to win four consecutive MAAC water polo titles. Additionally, Dodson cultivated an All-American season from Wagner junior Kimberly Watson (102 goals, 31 assists), who was also named the MAAC Co-Offensive Player of the Year.

Dodson played one professional season for Club Water Polo Dos Hermanas outside of Sevilla, Spain following an outstanding collegiate career at the University of California, Berkeley.

At Cal, Dodson was a four-time NCAA Academic All-American and made the UC Berkeley Student Athlete Honors List all four years. During her senior year, Dodson guided the Oski’sas a co-captain. The team won a silver medal at the 2011 NCAA Championships, after winning a bronze the year prior. Dodson graduated from Cal Berkeley in 2013 with a degree in media studies. She went on to earn her M.B.A. in marketing from Wagner in 2017.

Mackie Beck joined the Indiana Water Polo program as an assistant coach in 2019. 

Before coming to Indiana, Beck served as a youth water polo coach for the SET Water Polo Club in Orange County, California. There she coached the 16U Grey team to a 19th place finish in the Championship division at the Junior Olympics. She also served as an assistant coach for Laguna Beach High School. 

Beck played professionally abroad after college for two years for Australia (UNSW), Spain (CN Rubi), and Greece (Tritons Water Polo Club). 

Beck played at Loyola Marymount University, where she earned her degree in business administration and marketing in 2015. During her time there, the Lions won three conference championships. Beck earned several honors, including honorable mention All-GCC, First-Team GCC All-Tournament, Second-Team All-Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), WWPA All-Freshman, and First-Team WWPA tournament.

Elise Begg joined the Indiana Water Polo program in 2019 as an assistant xoach. Prior to IU, Begg served as the water polo coach at South Coast Aquatics in Thousand Oaks, California. Begg was also a Coastal Zone Youth Coach for the Olympic Development program, working with players to introduce and develop skills. 

As a player, Begg helped Wagner College win four-straight MAAC conference championships, earning four NCAA Tournament appearances. Begg was a two-time Second-Team All-MAAC honoree and was a three-time member of the MAAC All-Academic Team.

Begg, an eight-time Dean’s List honoree, earned her degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from Wagner College in 2018.

Water Polo
The commitment to excellence at Indiana University is obvious when observing the state-of-the-art facilities that the Hoosiers train and compete in throughout the season. The Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center (CBAC), which was completed in 1996, is the home to Indiana University water polo in addition to the swimming and diving programs.

The commitment to championship athletics at Indiana University includes providing student-athletes with a quality sports complex. The year 1996 marked the beginning of a new era with the opening of the Counsilman-Billingsley Center in the Student Recreational Sports Center.

Outdoor Pool
With the warmest climate in the Big Ten Conference, Indiana also utilizes its outdoor pool for training purposes. It features a 10-lane, 50-meter pool along with a separate diving well.

Outdoor Diving Well
The Hoosiers’ outdoor diving facility features two three-meter boards, one-, three-, five-, seven-and-a-half and 10-meter platforms and a hot tub.
